Why would anyone buy a Classic Car or Truck? Aren't they money pits?

All About Detail Classic Car News always advises our readers to be careful when purchasing a Classic. You need to do research. The question is " aren't they money pits?". The answer is no! If you purchase correctly or with an entrepreneurial spirit.

 Entrepreneurial spirit you ask?

Here's an example. Last fall my wonderful wife rented anniversary present for me. Rented? Yes, she rented a Classic Car. A sweet little 1978 Alpha Romeo Spider. This classic Italian chariot packs a two liter, over-head cam engine with dual Weber carburetors.  She rented this Classic in Charlottesville, VA. at the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just a few mile from the winding Blue Ridge Parkway. Top down, fall foliage, winding roads, dual Webers and a beautiful Classic. I love that woman!

The entrepreneur renting these cars, Sport Car Rentals, had five other cars like it. They rent for $110/day. Wouldn't you say that he has the best of three worlds? He lives in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, has 6 Classic Cars, and earns money doing it. My point is, he has purchased 6 Classics and they are not money pits.

Here's another example of  entrepreneur know when buying a Classic Car. I found this on the internet

For just $50 and $70 per hour, plus $150 to $200 for the first half-hour, Haynes Chauffeuring will take you for a tour of  San Diego in Style. This rolling museum cost $70,000 to restore but at those prices the owner should recover his price in no time, and better yet he owns a piece of history and it is not a money pit.

So why would anyone buy a Classic Car or Truck?
  • They love Classics
  • They have done their research well and know that a return on investment is possible
  • They have an entrepreneurial spirit and want to see the a Classic doing what it does best, ride.
Don't let anyone convince you that a Classic Car or Truck is a money pit!
