An article by Jean Jennings, President and Editor-in-Chief at Automobile Magazine, is tooting the horn for a Hershey Car Show, "The Elegance at Hershey". In the article she tells us, the reader, that Hershey is having a revival to its car show status it once enjoyed. This is great for Hershey but what about Central PA?
I have been a Classic Car Nut for many years and slowly but surely I have come to realize that Central Pennsylvania, is rich in Classic Cars however, you could say that Central PA is much like the Pittsburgh Pirates. How? Well, like the Pirates we have some of the best players,or in this case, the best cars. Sadly,
in spite of this fact, the top ones end up going to the major leagues. They go to Barrett Jackson Auctions and to Hershey Car Shows. Now is the time for the Central Pennsylvania Classic Car Business to stand up on its own!
Here's the thing, Central PA is alive with Car Shows and Events all summer long. Take a look at just few examples:
Classic Shine at the Lake Curwensville Lake
Snow Shoe Annual Fall Festival & Car Show Snow Shoe
Super 322 Drive-In Car Show Bigler
Bellefonte Cruise Downtown Bellefonte
Fezell's Shop n Save 11th Annual Car Show DuBois
Central Mountains Region, Antique and Custom Car Show Clearfield
Leonard Street Car and Bike Show Clearfield
Back to the Fifties Weekend New Castle
Galleria Super Cruise Johnstown
Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival Butler
Country Boys Custom Car, Truck and Bike Show Lewisburg
Oil City Heritage Days Car Show Oil City
Central PA Street Machines Lockhaven
The Rodfathers Of Butler Butler
Roar in the Mountains Car Show Altoona
Allegheny Mountain Region Car Show Boalsburg
Annual State College Cool Cruise Car Show Boalsburg
ACC Car Show DelGrosso's Tipton
Fabulous Fifties Fourth Annual Car Show Raystown Lake
Altoona Corvette Club Car Show Tipton
Blair County Antique Auto Club Car Show Williamsburg
Altoona Corvette Club & Zeigler Chevrolet Cruise-In Altoona
Portage Cruisers Cruise-In (2 shows) Portage
Jaffa Antique & Classic Vehicle Show DelGrosso's Park Tipton
BCAAC Car Show Prince Gilitzin State Park
It is time for someone to assemble a Central PA Car Show Extravaganza. Perhaps a show the size of Carlisle with a high end car auction. A show that will bring car enthusiasts from all over the US and Canada. Music, swap meets, food vendors and more. We all know it can be done. how does it start?
I can not think of a better place than the Clearfield County Fair Ground. Ample space, ample parking, ample vendors, ample hospitality. All that is needed is organization of about a thousand cars and a few sunny days.
If I missed your favorite car show or event please let me know and I will add it.

Good for Collectors: The Arizona Emissions Study
Historic Vehicle Association HVA Monthly Newsletter
3/01/11
There’s a common belief among historic vehicle enthusiasts that environmentalists and regulators will continue to find ways to make it seem that we’ve made little progress in cleaning up our air and that things will only get worse unless aggressive new regulatory programs are implemented.
Can well-reasoned arguments backed up by hard data still make a positive difference where stricter emission law threaten historic vehicle ownership? Thankfully, the answer is yes.
Take the case of Arizona. In 2005, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) conducted an exhaustive study on the impact of “collector vehicles” on carbon emissions and overall air quality. The Arizona report concluded the impact on emissions and air quality was “negligible” and, based on this information, Arizona regulators moved to exempt historic vehicle owners from emissions regulation. This exemption required the federal EPA to review and approve the Arizona findings before the exemption could take effect. In April, 2007, the federal EPA did just that. Click here for copies of the ADEQ study and the EPA approval.
While reasoned debate and compelling data doesn’t guarantee that all regulators will come to their senses and follow Arizona’s lead, it does provide a strong precedent for the future defense of historic vehicle owners elsewhere in the future.

Do you like Art? Do you like Car Art?
Very rarely will we repeat an article. This is the exception. This article was posted long before we had any type of following. We would like to now introduce Hugo Prado to our readers and our followers. He is certainly worth the attention.

All About Detail Classic Car News
Press Release 2/18/2011
Born in 1952, Hugo Prado grew up in Miraflores a West Coast surfing suburb of Lima-Peru, South America. His main passion, other than car races and surfing, was drawing. Hugo's father, Carlos, was a race car driver and responsible for importing vehicles, such as VOLVO's, BMW's, FIAT's, etc. into Peru. "I was the most popular kid in our neighborhood”, Hugo comments, “since my father Carlos would bring a different car from work everyday"
After working as an illustrator in advertising, Hugo realized his life-long dream in 1989, when he decided to leave commercial art to become a full-time automotive artist and founded AutomotiveFineArt.com working in acrylic and watercolors sprayed through the airbrush. His original paintings usually take anywhere from three months to a year to complete. The 1931 Duesenberg and the Dale Earnhardt each took a year to complete.
His work can be seen on MOTORWEEK, and his prints have been sold on TV on QVC and auctioned by "The World Leader of Collector Car Auctioneers " KRUSE INTERNATIONAL. Among Hugo's noted collectors is JAY LENO, of the Tonight Show.
Our “in-house publishing capabilities” allows Hugo to publish his own limited edition Giclees on spectacular 8 color process. Being the artist he can match the color of his original art on all the published prints as no one can.
"As an artist, I understand the meaning of quality and service. I provide my collectors with the best quality, from the original painting all the way to shipping”. This degree of commitment is part of what makes Hugo Prado's limited edition art prints so valuable.
Hugo Prado is available for private and corporate commissions. Galleries and collectors interested in commissions or in purchasing the prints please contact:

Is that Car Classic, Vintage, Historic, Antique or Exotic?
The definitions of Classic, Vintage, Exotic, His toric, Antique cars is a well debated subject matter with no clear winner.
For example The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), one of the largest and probably the most stodgiest, noses in the air club, has proclaimed that an antique caris at least 25 years of age or older currently functioning and restored to comply with the manufacturers original specifications. Of course with passing years that definition has been refined to include several classifications of vehicles. So even they can’t make up their minds.
In most circles the term antiqueis most often used interchangeably with the term classic when talking about older vehicles but some like to point out what they consider to be differences. In some circles it is and in some it is n't.
The Department of Motor Vehicles in most states have their own terms for what they consider an antique vehicle. Most do not agree with AACA in that theyis sue antique or his toric license plates to any vehicle more than 25 years old. The owners of these cars can purchase less expensive insurance than they pay on a new car with mileage limits of course.
Here at "All About Detail Classic Car News" we have our own opinion. We think that all cars are a form of art. Some like the Chevy Chevettes are more like pictures to put on Grandma’s refrigerator where as a Bugatti Type 51 should be on dis play at the Museum Of Modern Art Exhibits (MOMA). Anything that belongs in an art gallery, for reasons of pure beauty or due to their historical value, are to us Masterpieces and therefore are Classics.
Unlike AACA we include Exotic, Clones, and Custom within the definition of Classic Car:
