Let’s talk about clay bars
My recommendation is the kit by Mothers California Gold. I like this kit because it comes with a lubricant.
How to Use a Clay Bar:
Note: I recommend splitting your clay bar up into two to four pieces. This will prevent you having to throw the whole bar away should you drop it.
- Wash and dry your car.
- Flatten the clay bar out
- Work small sections approximately 2 foot squares at a time. Spray with your lubricant of choice.
- Rub the clay back and forth on the lubricated paint until you no longer feel any resistance or hear friction. No more friction means that it’s clean.
- Wipe off the area you just worked with a quality microfiber towel and clean the section.
- It should feel smooth. If not, repeat the process until the paint feels smooth to your touch. again.
- Move on to the next area.
- If the clay bar stars to look dirty, kneed (fold) until it looks clean.
- Re-wash the vehicle to remove any residue left behind by the clay and lubricant.
