1953 Buick Skylark ~ Tammy Allen Collection

Recently at the 35th Annual AACA of Venice Car Show a lovely 1953 Buick Skylark graced the show with its presence.

I happened to catch a glimpse of the car on my drive to Centennial Park, downtown Venice Island. It truly stood out among the moving traffic, a bright shiny red convertible among the white and grey SUV’s. I’m hoping to see it again at the shows and get a photo of it.

There it was up in the east corner of the park and even among the all those gorgeous cars it stood out. Beautifully detailed and standing there like some lovely princess. Many times over the years I have come across cars that just moved me. This though, was a very special car.

At every car show I take photos and report on the events. I also choose to highlight a car based on its detail job and based on its being photogenic. This car was it, the “Shine of the Show”.

In speaking to its owner, Mr. Dennis Esken a very nice gentleman, he told me this car was once part of a collection belong to heiress Tammy Allen.

As a car buff that got my curiosity and therefore I did some research here is what I found:

Tammy Allen is indeed a car collector and this car was once part of her collection. Allen loves collecting cars, especially old-school automobiles. This beautiful car was part of her collection and was sold by auction through Barrett and Jackson.

If you would like to know more about her, about how she came to be involved Car Collection hobby read more https://htowndaily.com/tammy-allen-net-worth-her-car-collection-income-and-more/

Thank you Dennis for sharing her with me and the 12,000 attendees. She is beautiful.

AACA Venice Celebrated its 35th

The AACA celebrated 35 years of the best in motoring Southwest Florida. This event gives attendees a close up look at hundreds of historical vehicles with gorgeous shines.

The Boss ~ Gause Garage

This was an annual award-winning event. It was held on March 30th this year at the picturesque Venice Island Centennial Park. It was perfect. The park is surrounded on both sides by streets styled in the European Venice way. Great Restaurants and Great Shops.

There were over 350 gorgeous classic cars 12,000 visitors, food trucks, music, and a large family oriented crowd. The event crews were efficient and the show went off smoothly.

By 7am some cars were already there. The place was abuzz with activities. The event crews were directing traffic, the award booths were being set up, the DJ Van and its crew organizing their playlist, the judges were having conferences, and cars were pulling into the parking areas. As for the cars already parked, their owners had their detail sprays and rags out for last minute shines.

Event Crew hustling around

There were over 300 gorgeous historical cars. All set out in different makes and models. Mustangs here, Mopar there. Rolls here,Model A’s there.

It was very much a family event and because of all hard work by the event managers and crew it was a delight for all who attended.

As the crowd grew there was the hum of Chatter in the air. The chatter was a happy sound of Classic Car owners with their “people”.

The first two cars I opened my camera for were two old favorites of mine. A 1972 BMW 2002 TTI and 1970 Jaguar XKE ….. What a start!

So many great car with so little time

Please go two page 35th this rest of the photos

  * The Shine of the Show is based on
        1. The attention to the detail shine
        2. How photogenic the car is

Then when all the works done ~

I attended the Ideal Classic Cars & Coffee Saturday Morning. It was a beautiful morning but a chill was in the air evidenced by the slow trickle-in of the cars. But they did come and by 9am there was plenty of gorgeous metal in the parking lot next to the awesome museum. What a great morning, with great cars!

The show was sponsored by AACA of Venice:

An item of interest:
Harry Mintz putting the last minute touch to his 1955 Nash Statesman, a Swamp Cooler

I never heard of these devices before and found it very interesting. They were an add-on accessory that used water- evaporation from a wet cloth, directing the cooler air into the car interior to provide a basic form of air conditioning.

 * Shine of the Show is judge on two factors:
* How well the car is detailed
  • * How photogenic the car or truck is
