Car Photos:

Sleek curves, the gleaming paint jobs, the raw power under the hood, not to mention the amazing features and utility – it’s no wonder that so many folks are passionate about owning, driving, and, yes, photographing automobiles.

One mistake people make when shooting cars is heading out during the middle of the day when the light is harsh, unflattering, and just all-around bad. It’s a surefire way to end up with poor automobile shots.

It’s best to take photos a few minutes after sunset or a few minutes before sunrise. Another option is to work on overcast days – the clouds do a good job of diffusing the light

Distraction Free

Background matters always keep it simple.

You must carefully control what is in the photo and what is reflected in the car. Reflections can spoil these design lines. So before you capture a single photo, have a look around you, then look closely at the car and see what reflects off its surface.

Do you want photos of a car? Do you want to advertise on eBayCraigslistWeBe Autos, or even put that special car in the duPont Registry? Or, do you want a special photo album for yourself ? Email aadutter@ gmail.com or call 941-716-4785 ask for Larry.

Note : Both of the photos above were taken using my iPad. The number one rule for taken great photos is “The Setting”.

Details of “Curwensville Days Car Show”

 My first ever car show.

It’s an off week for me. No car show scheduled. Let me share with you how I got involved in Classic Cars.

Curwensville is located in the Appalachian Mountains in Pennsylvania. (As of 2024 population  ~2458) Yes, they have car shows there too.

It was a perfect day in a nice park under the pine trees. Pine trees are not car finishes friends. I was there because we had detailed an awesome Cobra for one of our customers.

A friend and I, looking to pick up a few extra dollars to pay for some necessities, golf, whiskey, and so on, started car detailing in another friend’s empty garage bay on Saturdays. It’s good exercise and nice extra money. Soon we were busy every Saturday.

Both of us loved the feeling one gets when you get to stand back and look at the end product. We did some great work.

On one Saturday one of the regulars brought his wife’s car and asked us to detail it to showroom condition. It was an anniversary gift. We did and he was so impressed he asked us to do the same thing to his show car. Not a classic car officiant at that time and not much of one now, I believe he brought us a 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 pink.

Pretty soon we had others bringing their show cars to us for the “treatment”. Then something life changing happened.

One of the customers expressed his desire to sell the love of his life,  a 1957 Ford Fairland 500. I just happened to have a website that I was using to share photos. We made a deal, if the car sold from my lead he would pay $100.00. I detailed the car and posted my first car for sale.

This was way before any of the heavies had websites. Hemmings, Barrett Jackson, and Mecum. In fact at this time you would be hard pressed to find Classic Cars sold via the internet.

But I wasn’t the only one. As time went by I got really interested in the high end cars. I came across a Ferrari Dealer in California who had 2 Italia 458’s for sale. Those two cars got the interest of the owner of WeBE Autos out of Long Island, Michael Runnalls. Michael had been involved in internet sales for longer than I and was and is really good at it by the time our paths crossed. He helped me and we started sharing cars. Eventually began represent WeBe Autos in SW Florida.

A couple cars and one truck there that we had detailed. Unfortunately I can’t remember much about that day except the weather was perfect and I loved the cars. I didn’t take many notes. I got little to none of the details that day.

I took these photos using my phone. Let me share some of my first car show photos:

Detailed by All About Detailed

A good friend’s Honda Goldwing Trike.

I started off loving to detail a car and stand back and look at the product. I still love a beautifully detailed car.

I have started back up this blog so I can be engaged in the Classic Car Business. This blog will be used as an affiliate marketing in the near future.  Any product I recommend I have either used or got a review from someone I trust.

A bit of a survey :

Vintage Cars Investments

By Larry FitzGibbon, All About Detail Classic Car News

Record prices at the major auctions indicate that the Vintage Car Market, that had been battered by recession, has rebounded. In fact it seems the recovery is complete.

At the RM Auction a 1958 Ferrari sold for 8.8 million while Barrett Jackson had 1967 Corvette Coupe with a L88 engine sell for 3.9 million.

More amazing though have been some of the cars that have sold that need work, "barn finds". An abandoned 1965 Porsche 911, a car that resemble something from the Mad Max movie, sold $166,600 at Bonhams. At Gooding & Co a tatter worn out Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing brought the seller 1.9 million. Of course to bring a car back to show level can sometimes be more expensive than its worth.

So what is the appeal? As David Gooding put it, its having the ownership of an "undisturbed soul". Can you picture yourself driving down the road, the smells, the textures of your beautifully restored vintage car? Can you imagine the car making its maiden voyage, who sat there, what did they talk about, where did they go? Nothing in the world like that, I call it the smell of old leather.
Not all agree that this is a wonderful thing. One writer put it this way, "it's  almost like cash for clunkers had come to the Vintage Car Market". But that isn't it is it? Its a true indicator the the Vintage Car Market has pulled out of the recession. It is time to look around your garage to decide what to sell,  decide what to buy and what to restore.

Of course I am here to help. Are you looking to sell, I will find the right buyer for you. Are you looking to buy, I will find the right car for you. All About Detail ~ WeBe Autos has over 5,000 fine automobiles for sale online right now. That is no accident. We have been very busy helping buyers and sellers connect. We would love to add you to our cause.

Let me share with you two of my recent "barn finds" and see what your imagination can do.

1951 Mercury "Darryl Starbird" Chop Top

1940 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible

Two really special cars waiting for some imagination. In these cases not much needed to be done to bring them back to thier glory days, have them out on the concour again.

What value do you put on the 1984 Ferrari 512BBi?

Investing in cars can be as perplexing as investing in the StockMarket.

  • Notice how the value in this Ferrari has vacillated since 2006 according to Hagerty's Value Tool. Notice also the high value of this car as a # 1, according to Hagerty, is approximately $160,0000. Examples of this car can be found today listed at 299,900 Hemmings Motors and DuPont Registry at $159,900.  Back in August of 2013 one of these sold at a RM Auction at $170,500.

So:
$159,900
$160,000
$170,500
$299,995
That's perplexing isn't it.

So what is the investor to think? Better yet, What is an investor to do? If you have an interest and are thinking about investing visit WeBe Autos for details on this beauty.

What is the driving force behind a good car sale?

I have recently joined the team at WeBe Autos www.webeautos.com as a Media Sales Listing Agent working out of my home in beautiful Southwest Florida. I will be covering the Tampa, Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples area. The reason I joined this team can be summed up as follows:

At WeBe Autos we recognize that there are several things that separate the right price from bargain basement prices.

1. A great and unique car. For example a Honda CRV is a great vehicle but it is certainly not unique. On the other hand a Yugo is unique but it is not a great vehicle. These cars are not great unique cars, they are mediocre.

2. Advertisement, Advertisement, Advertisement! You can have a great unique car with great photos, and a dynamite write up but if no one see or reads it, then your car has not been separated from the mediocre.  At WeBe autos we pride ourselves on our marketing skills and we recognize the need to put your beautiful car in front of as many would-be-buyers as possible.

3. Photos. To highlight the cars beauty, show it in a way that says, " I am something special". That requires a proper and professional photo shoot and at times a professional video. WeBe Autos again specializes in these most important areas. We pride ourselves in giving your car the curb appeal it deserves.

4. Description write up. This can be the most damaging thing that can happen to a great/unique beautiful car when it is advertised on those D/I/Y sites. If this was a poker hand , these description and be a real tell. They let someone know a lot about the seller and they do not highlight the car in the manner it deserves. At WeBe Autos we pride ourselves in our description write ups painting a word picture that gives your car the curb appeal it deserves.
