J&C Entertainment ~ Details

Do you love music?

Car Shows enthusiast like us love entertainment. Especially those old rock and roll tunes.

J&C Entertainment has been entertaining Classic Car enthusiasts for many years. More years than John Ross and his lovely wife Christine like to admit,….since 1995. They have recently relocated to Venice, and like all of us wise ones, they love Sunshine and Beaches.

A little bit about them and then we can get to how you can contact them for services.

J&C Entertainment is a veteran-led business. John & Christine moved from the Boston area. It’s the reason they say “car” funny. While in business in Boston Area they had three other professional DJ’s working for them. John is retired police officer and Christine teaches country western line dancing.

So how can you contact them for their services: Learn more J&C Entertainment. They say “ "We Bring The Party!”

John and Christine are the proud owners of this 57 Chevy Drop Top Belair:

Great Coffee Stop ~ Details

Do you love great coffee.

I stopped By Bergey’s Coffee today with a couple car nuts. Great coffee and what a perfect location for a weekly Cars & Coffee get together.

Perhaps you have noticed the Citroën H-Type most commonly the Citroën HY sitting along Rt 41. These are a series of panel vans produced by  automaker Citroen for 34 years – from 1947 through 1981.

A little known fact is Jason and Mia Bergeron are running a Coffee Truck Business right off RT 41 at 1600 Banyan Drive, Venice, Florida.

Jason and Mia’s HY Van has been converted into a pull trailer. They serve not only great hot coffee they have an assortment of teas and cold coffee drinks on their menu

Great car photos with an IPad part 1

Car Photos:

Sleek curves, the gleaming paint jobs, the raw power under the hood, not to mention the amazing features and utility – it’s no wonder that so many folks are passionate about owning, driving, and, yes, photographing automobiles.

One mistake people make when shooting cars is heading out during the middle of the day when the light is harsh, unflattering, and just all-around bad. It’s a surefire way to end up with poor automobile shots.

It’s best to take photos a few minutes after sunset or a few minutes before sunrise. Another option is to work on overcast days – the clouds do a good job of diffusing the light

Distraction Free

Background matters always keep it simple.

You must carefully control what is in the photo and what is reflected in the car. Reflections can spoil these design lines. So before you capture a single photo, have a look around you, then look closely at the car and see what reflects off its surface.

Do you want photos of a car? Do you want to advertise on eBayCraigslistWeBe Autos, or even put that special car in the duPont Registry? Or, do you want a special photo album for yourself ? Email aadutter@ gmail.com or call 941-716-4785 ask for Larry.

Note : Both of the photos above were taken using my iPad. The number one rule for taken great photos is “The Setting”.

Hupmobile ~ Details

Following a distinguished career with Oldsmobile, Ford, and Regal, Robert Craig Hupp established the manufacture of motor cars bearing his name in 1909 in Detroit, Michigan.

Hupp Model 20 contributed to its early success. The Model 20, is a compact affordable, and durable car that gained popularity for its reliability and fuel efficiency.

Its reputation for endurance and reliability continued to grow when a Model 20 completed a transcontinental journey from San Francisco to New York in 48 days.

As the Hupmobile company grew it introduced larger and more sophisticated models, catering to a broader market. 1911, following a disagreement with the board, Robert Hupp left the company. Hupmobile continued and their 1912 Model 32, an all-steel-bodied car, became the mainstay of pre-Great War production.

The introduction of the Hupp 8 in 1925 marked an ambitious move into the luxury car segment. The Hupp 8 featured a smooth eight-cylinder engine and upscale amenities, attracting a more affluent clientele.

The Great Depression hit the automotive industry hard, and Hupmobile was no exception. Despite attempts to adapt to changing economic conditions by offering more affordable models, the company struggled financially. By 1936, Hupmobile attempted a fresh start with a new lineup, but the market conditions and competition proved insurmountable.

Hupmobile bought the Cord 810-812 body dyes after Cord went bankrupt in 1937-38.  Hupmobile and Graham, who were also in financial trouble, joined as partners in building these cars. Graham had a brand new factory, so all the cars were built there. The cars came down 2 separate assembly lines. Graham called their car, the Hollywood Graham, using a Graham supercharged engine, and switching to rear wheel drive. They made approx 1600 cars.

Hupmobile did not produce a car in 1937. They did produce cars in 1938 & 1939. Then they went to the Cord body Skylak in 1940. The same engine was used in the Skylark in 1940)

In 1940 Hupmobile used a 6-cylinder engine, but switched to rear-wheel drive, and called their car the Hupmobile Skylark. They built 319 Hupmobile Skylarks in 1940 and went bankrupt that year. The cars that weren't sold in 1940, were retitled as a 1941 model.

1940 Hupmobile Skylark ~ owner Alan Weinstein

The company officially declared bankruptcy in 1941. While Hupmobile may not have endured through the decades like some of its contemporaries, its legacy lives on as a symbol of innovation and quality craftsmanship during the early days of the American automotive industry.

At this time there are approximately 35 Hupmobile Skylarks left in the world.

I attended the Ideal Classic Cars & Coffee Saturday Morning. It was a beautiful morning but a chill was in the air evidenced by the slow trickle-in of the cars. But they did come and by 9am there was plenty of gorgeous metal in the parking lot next to the awesome museum. What a great morning, with great cars!

The show was sponsored by AACA of Venice:

An item of interest:
Harry Mintz putting the last minute touch to his 1955 Nash Statesman, a Swamp Cooler

I never heard of these devices before and found it very interesting. They were an add-on accessory that used water- evaporation from a wet cloth, directing the cooler air into the car interior to provide a basic form of air conditioning.

 * Shine of the Show is judge on two factors:
* How well the car is detailed
  • * How photogenic the car or truck is

1950 DeSoto Custom Station Wagon Woodie ~ Details

The Wood-Bodies have always been one of my favorites. This 1950 Desoto Custom Station Wagon shown here truly stands out where ever it’s parked.

Station Wagons began in the twenties. They were just the car to have for hunting trips, family vacations and family outings. Also, they were great for carrying light loads, children, and pets.

By the 1950 these became stylish with great lines and woodies became vogue. Of course that fine wood added an item to car detailing. The fine wood needed to be cared for and a yearly varnishing was prudent. Even at that, the wood was a constant nuisance.

This car was a six seater with a fold down second row seat. One of its innovative designs was a two piece transom tailgate with a window that would retract into the tailgate.

This car was one of the six hundred that came with the wood-trim. It sold for $3903. It displays a very toothy chrome grill. Under its hood 236.6 cid L-head six and produced 112 bhp. It came with either a 3spd manual or a semi automatic transmission (Tip-Top Hydraulic shift with gyro Fluid Drive). These all resulted in a smooth ride with plenty of power for the uphill climbs.

I love this car. It has been well detailed and is very photogenic.

While you are here don’t forget to follow us.
